Budget for the 2026/27 financial year

Minister of Finance Neil Rijkenberg has presented a budget of E36.92 billion for the 2026/27 financial year. Taking the lion’s share of the budget is education at E6.4 billion, which is 16.7% of the overall national budget. Other increased allocations have been channelled to capital projects, including rehabilitation of roads, as well as health, which includes the transformation of the Central Medical Stores.

Minister Rijkenberg: “Over the past several years, we prioritised stabilisation, strengthening reserves, improving debt management, upgrading our credit rating, firming up tax administration, and restoring investor confidence. This Budget marks a transition from stability to acceleration. It is a pro-growth, pro-discipline, pro-investment Budget.”

Minister Rijkenberg: “For the 2026/27 financial year, the Ministry of Health has been allocated E3.24 billion. This is our commitment to a health system that prevents, heals and loves its people back to wholeness.”
